Golden Valley MN homes for sale: a wide price range and two school districts
Golden Valley has $400,000 ramblers and $1 million-plus homes in the same city, split between two school districts. Here is how the numbers break down.
Hennepin County property records, warranty-deed sales, Sep 2025 to Aug 2026.
Why one median does not describe Golden Valley
The middle half of single-family sales ran from $395,000 to $640,000. That is a $245,000 spread, much wider than nearby Crystal or New Hope. Fifteen houses sold for more than $1 million. The median house that sold was built in 1958, so most of the range comes down to size, lot, updates and location rather than age.
Homes typically sold about 11.2% over Hennepin County's estimated value. On a $486,000 house, that is real money, so I do not price off tax statements here.
Two school districts
Single-family sales in the county data, by school district. Confirm any address with the district before you buy.
| District | Single-family sales |
|---|---|
| Robbinsdale Area Schools (ISD 281) | 116 |
| Hopkins (ISD 270) | 74 |
Wirth Park, highways and General Mills
Theodore Wirth Park runs along Golden Valley's border with Minneapolis, with golf, trails, a swimming beach and winter ski trails. General Mills has its headquarters here. Interstate 394 and Highways 55, 100 and 169 all cross the city, so getting downtown or west is quick from most streets.
Not every buyer wants a house: 22 condos sold at a median of $237,000 and 13 townhomes at $249,000. That is the most affordable way into the city.

"He provided a ton of helpful feedback for each property we toured and was always objective (including the reasons to not buy certain properties)."
